Pre carnival Retreat, 14th - 22nd February 2009

Our week of bliss will be situated at the Piracanga Eco Centre, on the Peninsula de Marau, just south of Salvador, the capital of Bahia, Brazil. It is on one of the most stunning parts of the Brazilian coast line, with long expansive stretches of deserted beach and only a short trip from Itacare, the closest beach town.

Retreat beach                  Itacare, closest town                      Retreat location

The Piracanga Eco Centre is opposite the beach, surrounded by warm seas, a fresh water river, mangroves, coconut trees and virgin rain forest. The centre is run on wind and solar energy and all efforts are made to protect the water and soil, especially since there is a fresh source of clean drinking water, which in this day and age is a rare luxury! There is an amazing traditional style temple space for workshops, only a few steps to the beach, as is the accommodation and restaurant.

Eco centre workshop space

It is the perfect place to experience the beauty and power of nature, away from any distractions and connect to our inner joy and well being. Behind the centre is a growing Eco village and a new school (serving as a creche for visiting children), where people, both locals and foreigners are creating a lifestyle based on a close sense of community and harmony with the environment.
